As usual it’s taken a long time to get the next version out, as we keep adding one more fix. Updating the web page has been a bit slow, so it’s actually been available for a while. So it’s quite well tested.

Here’s a list of fixes, though most of them are quite technical:

Fixed in 3.04 (final):
* Nothing

Fixed in 3.04f4:
* Fixed proper glyph-remembering of TT-font and filename copying when
font-variant is made.

Fixed in 3.04f3:
* Tweaked JPEG reading code to allow SOS marker to make small strips shorter
than they should, without filling non-defined part with white/black.
* Changed font embedding code again, to avoid a problem with restored away
only having early charstrings dumped.

Fixed in 3.04f2:
* Changed font-loglist char-string remembering again to remove potential
invalid pointer comparisons.
* Forced char-strings to be remembers in loglist glyphs for each use,
thereby perhaps storing them before restores remove them.
* Added closing of font-file if it's a TT/OT, it wasn't closed otherwise.
* Adding test for preview adding file length...

Fixed in 3.04f1:
* Fixed bug in font-embedding causing dictfull error on most output.

Fixed in 3.04b7:
* Fixed String-To-UTF8 encoding causing font maps with non-ascii folder names
to case fonts not found.
* Made better CRC hash for path caching, old lousy routine created same CRC for
different paths.
* Fixed code to remember file paths to fonts in loglist.

Fixed in 3.04b6:
* Tweaked new glyph-charstring code to output all charstrings in dictionary
too, as they might be sub-charstrings used by main ones.
* Added overprint-flushing code to new gradient output. Old routine removed
overprint-flush from output.

Fixed in 3.04b5:
* Fixed bug causing three-sided boxes to be stroked as a closed box.
* Added code to remember all charstrings for all glyphs, so when we dump font
they are all there even if they were removed in between.
* Added FontBBox default if missing in Encrypted Font dumping.

Fixed in 3.04b4:
* Changed handling of a spot color called one of the four CMYK colors "Black", "Magenta" etc. Now these are treated as CMYK and not a spot color.
* Made Acrobat 8 Pattern Level 2 bug detection better, so we could remove
options and always make it fix the problem.

Fixed in 3.04b3:
* Removed path ending tweak from 303 that was causing angled lines.
Can't find original file tweak was needed for, but may be OK anyway.
* Fixed OPI-comment keeping code that caused missing objects.
* Added code to detect a huge bug in Adobe's Level 2 PostScript code in
Adobe Acrobat 8. You can choose to:
a) Log the bug when detected.
b) Fail if the bug is detected.
c) Try and fix the bug if it is detected.
The code for detecting this bug may not necessary be 100% accurate.
We suggest using b) fail in main filter, and running files that fail
through c) fix when this occurs.

Fixed in 3.04b1 and b2:
* Fixed bug causing entire objects to randomly disappear.

Version 3.0.3 released

Version 3.0.3 is finally out. We kept adding more and more small fixes to make it work with every new file we were sent, but now it’s finally available. We’ve added functionality to detect some linear and round gradients, and output them as efficient gradient code. Version 3.0.3 also adds support for a special embedded truetype font called a type 42 font.

Here’s some technical details of what is fixed/changed:

Fixed in 3.03b14:
* Tweaked path output so some trapeze-list polygons don't have gaps.

Fixed in 3.03b13:
* Fixed output so dotted line-cap frames are correct in corners.
* Fixed bitmap window that wasn't placing image correctly.
* Made trial fix in glyph-show code to prevent crash in Quark.

Fixed in 3.03b12:
* Fixed bug in reading some True Type fonts.

Fixed in 3.03b11:
* Fixed bug from earlier 3.0.3 that made some text at an angle.
* Fixed bug in gradient copying that caused path caching to made some rays
white in file "MediaMarkt_080728_02.eps"
* Made detection and copying of radial gradients!
* Fixed bug causing strange image thumbnails in log from Windows.

Fixed in 3.03b10:
* Made hack that expands circle-lines used in round gradients from Acrobat.
* Made close, minimize and zoom buttons work on Mac.
* Fixed bug causing crash during output of a truetype font.
* Fixed other fatal warning during reading of a truetype font.
* Fixed yet another run-length encoded image problem.
* Hopefully fixed 3rd truetype crash caused by os/2 information.

Fixed in 3.03b9:
* Fixed bug that caused rangecheck error in clippath, caused by
fix in 3.0.7b7.
* Fixed bug that caused button crash in Mac OS 10.4x, better fix of button
code fix from 3.03b7.

Fixed in 3.03b8:
* Added support for Type 42 embedded TrueType fonts.
* Fixed bug creatd in 3.0.7 causing "invalid char" error.
* Made PROscript not create 2, 3 etc prefix when embedding fonts.
Sometimes it is still necessary, but not if unique ids are the same

Fixed in 3.03b7:
* Changed font-matrix output to avoid scientific numbers (2.5e-14).
* Fixed glyph showing output to avoid accumulating fonts that case restore
in endi (end of image) to take forever.
* Made major fix of clippath code used when making EPS, so it gives a more
accurate bounding box. Inaccurate bbox was creating gaps in Acrobat 8
gradients.
* Added GUI to turn on or off gradient detection and output:

Fixed in 3.03b6:
* Removed new push button code that failed on Mac OS 10.4.

Fixed in 3.03b5:
* Tweaked CS3 frame fix made in 3.03b4, as it sometimes straightened out
curves that shouldn't be.
* Changed font embedding code that caused missing characters (www).

Fixed in 3.03b4:
* Fixed bug that causes hanging on certain files. (path bounding box)
* Made rendered JPEG files have correct dpi (was 72 always)
* Made hack in path line output to fix strange frames from InDesign CS3
that are drawn with curves, and have line back to start point. This
avoids small missing corner join.
* Upgraded PROscript's version number to 2013.111, which should allow
lots of buggy older ps-code output by Acrobat 8 to use modern stuff
they have actually tested.
* Changed minimum file size to skip in hotfolders from 4K to 512 bytes.
* Made PROscript recognize multiple filled trapezes, and convert them
to a gradient using an image. This is to avoid small transparent gaps
between the trapezes in the output. It also makes a smaller file.
* Added version label in main opening page to show this text.

Version 3.0.2 released

The final version of the new major upgrade to PROscript is now available.
This is a paid upgrade, contact your dealer or distributor to upgrade from any older version.

Requirements:
Macintosh: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger), ADB dongles must be upgraded to USB.

Windows: Windows 2000 or newer. Parallel or USB dongles.

We finally bit the bullet and moved our website to a different editor. It hadn’t changed much in 10 years! Now it’ll be much easier to update it. We’ve made it a minimalist site, so let us know if you are missing anything, especially in the download section.
